Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Climate Change Statistics: 2020, is the first publication of its kind in this area of statistics in the Region.
It aims at providing statistics on climate change for the region and follows the Framework for the Development of Environment Statistics (FDES 2013) of the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) and its refinements based on the Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) schematic framework. The IPCC framework summarises Climate Change into five components, Drivers, Impacts, Adaptation, Mitigation and Vulnerability.
The publication also includes metadata and an overview of some of the data presented on Climate Change which will be incorporated in the online regional knowledgebase that is being developed at the CARICOM Secretariat. It is expected that future editions will include both qualitative and quantitative data on climate change in the Caribbean region. Some of the core areas included are - Forests, Freshwater Resources, Hazardous Events and Disasters, Waste management and Climate Change Evidence.
This publication contains data up to 2019 in some instances, while for other series it comprises data up to 2012/13.
