The National Census Reports (NCRs) were prepared by demography experts from the Region, with two reviewers from the University of the West Indies (UWI). The reports present data that highlight trends in the demographic transition of the populations of Member Countries, from youthful to ageing population. The reports also make significant connections regarding education, training, economic activity, gender and fertility. The process of preparing the reports also allowed for quality checks on data, with the support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin American and the Caribbean (UNECLAC). The CARICOM Environment in Figures 2004 report was prepared by the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat, Statistics Sub-programme, using data submitted by Member States and Associate Members, the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD), and other regional and national organisations. This publication is the second in its series on environmental statistics for the CARICOM Region, following the first report, which presented data up to 2002. This is the seventh National Accounts Digest to be prepared by the Statistics Sub-programme of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat. The sixth report was published in 2001 and covered the period 1990 – 1999. It was the intention to produce a report every two years and, in the intervals, to continue to collect data from Member States and post these on our web site as soon as they became available. However, while it was not possible to publish the Digests as planned, the Sub-programme has attempted to keep its web site active with current data.

The publication provides detailed analysis of CARICOM’s Trade in selected agricultural commodities from 2000 to 2003, including import and export data by country and commodity. Data limitations exist due to incomplete reporting from some Member States.

This report, the second of its kind in the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), highlights statisticson International Trade in Services for fourteen (14) Member States of the Region. The impetus forthis report is past developmental work that was executed during 2001-2002 through fundingobtained from the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) as well as through theUSAID Caribbean Trade and Competitiveness Programme (C-TRADECOM) project conducted in2004-2005.

This is the second edition of a report which originally started out as an attempt to make available for both internal and external users, key economic indicators of CARICOM Member States in a single publication. However, as that earlier report developed and the problems of compiling a consistent and reliable data set across all Member States were exposed, the publication grew into an attempt to bring to the fore the issues of harmonisation of statistics in the Region. This report then continues in a similar manner,highlighting issues in the data and presenting updated indicators.

This is the fourth edition of CARICOM’s Trade: A Quick Reference to Some Summary Data which coversdata for the period 1996 to 2001. This publication presents some of the basic summary trade data to which users frequently refer and focuses primarily on CARICOM’s trade with principal trading partners, as well as on Intra-CARICOM trade. Further this report could be used as a valuable source of trade information for manipulation and analysis.

The CARICOM Environment in Figures report offers a comprehensive overview of the state of the environment across the CARICOM region. It highlights key environmental issues, supported by detailed data presented in tables and charts, along with expert commentary to provide context and insights. In addition to addressing major environmental themes, the publication also assesses the status of environmental statistics in the region, identifying significant data gaps. This report, the first of its kind in the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), highlights statistics on International Trade in Services for twelve Member States of the Region. The impetus for this historic and timely report is the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) funded Project, CARICOM Protocol II- Trade Policy and Facilitation Project, a component of which focused on Strengthening of Statistical Capabilities in Member States to produce statistics on International Trade in Services.
